Another good performance on Monday the 12th delivered a 5th Football League Win for Bride Rovers away to Mayfield.
We started very well winning good possession, passing well took an early lead with some great points and an early goal. Mayfield got to grips with us after 10 minutes and controlled the ball and carried forward easily which put our back under pressure where we conceded easy frees. Those frees were converted and they were also awarded a penalty, Adam in goals got a hand to the ball but it had too much pace and crossed the line. With 10 minutes to go to short whistle. we carried forward and transferred quicker ball in to the forward line and took a great second goal from Matty and two 2-pointers from Conor. Mayfield also got a run of points from play and frees during this time and scored their second goal.
At half time we had scored 2-10 from play which was impressive but conceding 2-6 to our opponents was disappointing.
The second half started well for us and we kicked nice points from play and frees. Our midfielders and backs were much tighter on their men and got great turnovers and passed the ball quicker through the hands into our forwards and a number of points were swapped but we were the better spread team and controlled much of the second half. We hit the post, crossbar and the keeper, but eventually got a well deserved third goal from Jack Lynch. We outscore Mayfield 1-7 to 4 points in the second half and won the match 3-17 to 2-10
Well done to the lads again tonight. We have a break in games now and best of luck to Adam Cronin & Ronan Barry in their Leaving Cert exams.
